Paul Murrane is a recurring character in Fargo Season 3. He is heavily implied to be the Wandering Jew, a mythical immortal man from a European legend which originated in the 13th century.
History[]
In The Law of Non-Contradiction, Gloria meets Paul on the plane ride to Los Angeles, then later at the bar.
In Who Rules the Land of Denial?, Nikki talks with Paul at the bowling alley. He tells her, "They wanted him to stay but I convinced them he's on a better path now" referring to Wrench. Paul gives Nikki comfort in her loss of Ray, as well as a car for her and Wrench to use. In return he ask's Nikki to deliver a message to 'The Wicked' The message is a quote from the bible (Obadiah 1:4), "Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD." Yuri arrives shortly after Nikki and Wrench have left and Paul delivers a "message" from Helga to Yuri. It is implied that Yuri then either dies from the injuries he'd suffered earlier while fighting Nikki and Wrench or that he's killed by Paul as punishment for his crimes and those of his cossack ancestors.
