- King of Clubs was an actual bar originally located in Central Minneapolis. The building was demolished in 2003 for apartment construction.
- In the original script, the Fargo bar was known as the "Jolly Troll Tavern", an actual smörgåsbord in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jolly Troll was featured later in the film as the Brainerd buffet where Marge and Norm Gunderson eat fricassée.
