Clayton Winckle is a character featured in Fargo Season 4.
History[]
Doctor and Loy came to meet with Clayton to share a business proposition with him. They had themselves worked as bankers, providing loans to their community. But they needed his help expanding one of their products beyond the colored businesses, where it was already in common use. They proposed a credit card, a card which, when presented, allows the holder to pay for a service or product now with the card and pay the bill off later, weekly or monthly. They had over 100 businesses involved and just wanted Winckle's help reaching the white businesses. Winckle refused, saying his customers wouldn't go for it.[1]
However, despite this, Loy later saw a billboard advertising the credit card as a product, meaning Winckle had stolen his idea and used it without compensation or credit.[2]
