Buel Cannon is a character in Fargo Season 4. She is the wife of Loy Cannon.
History[]
Buel moved along with her husband and their four children to Kansas City, Missouri, where her husband immediately set to make a name for himself. Part of this was making a pact with the syndicate previously in power, the Fadda family. The pact involved trading their youngest sons. Satchel Cannon went to live with the Faddas while Zero Fadda came to live with the Cannons. Buel and Loy both struggled with not having Satchel living with them.[1]
Despite this struggle, Buel accepted Zero into her home and began to raise him alongside her own children.[2]
When Lemuel was among several members of the Cannon Limited to be arrested, Buel tried to go to the jail herself to pick him up, but Loy insisted that he'd take care of it himself. When she objected not only to that, but the whole life they were living, Loy reminded her that they had to do it this way to keep up their lifestyle.[3]
Buel continued to raise Zero with her kids, even including him in their lessons. When Calamita came to the door to kill Satchel and Rabbi, under the mistaken impression that they were at the Cannon house, Buel threatened him with a shotgun to get him to leave, making it clear to him that she would shoot him to protect the children. He backed off. However, soon after, Loy came home and told her that Satchel had been killed, as Josto had lied to him and told him that Calamita had killed both him and Rabbi.[4]
Buel went to the funeral home to see Dibrell. She made it clear to Dibrell that she wouldn't help her and Dibrell shouldn't ask, but Dibrell asked her just for another chance to make things right instead. Buel didn't answer, but did ask Dibrell to do the service for Satchel, which Dibrell agreed to easily.[5]
Buel and Loy came home one day with their children to find their front door open. Nervous, Buel waited outside with the children while Loy went inside to investigate. Loy called for Buel when he discovered that the invader was just their son, Satchel, who had returned home. They celebrated his return and were happy to live as a family again. However, shortly afterward, Loy was stabbed by Zelmare on their front porch and bled to death while Satchel watched.[6]
